EVIDENCE: Well selected quotations - not too long!
ANALYSIS: Pick out details (key words, images, sounds, etc.) and give your ideas about what they mean.
CROSS-REFERENCE: Link the quote with other parts of the text - compare and contrast.
EFFECTS: Evaluate the effect on the reader - what does the writer want the reader to think, know, feel or do?
